  • COVID-19 vaccine rollout

    Rye Family Clinic is taking part in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and is administering the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines. To make an appointment, call our practice on 03 5985 6662, or make a booking online via HotDoc or HealthEngine.

  • Consultation during the COVID-19 pandemic

    Where possible, we are encouraging phone and video consultations for GP services. However, we are still conducting in-person appointments, but with a range of safety measures.

    Our robust COVID-19 response plan includes QR code check-ins, social distancing, protective screens and mandatory face masks. During peak periods, we ask that patients wait in their car, rather than the waiting room until the time of their appointment.

  • What to do if there’s a chance you have COVID-19 and need to see a doctor

    If you think there is a chance you could have COVID-19, get tested immediately. If the test comes back negative, then you are welcome to come in for a face-to-face appointment.

    We can also conduct phone or video consultations with COVID-19 patients.

Billing

Our billing arrangement for GP services are as follows:

Local residents with a current Medicare card Out of area patients
Monday-Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm Bulk billing applies. Private billing fees of $70 apply.
Monday – Friday outside 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday until 1pm Private billing fees of $70 apply. Private billing fees of $70 apply.
After 1pm on Saturday and all day Sunday Private billing fees of $95 apply. Private billing fees of $95 apply.

Please note: All procedures will be privately billed at all times.

For private billing fees, payment is required at the time of appointment. Medicare rebates will apply as applicable, reducing the out-of-pocket costs.

Telephone and video consultations

Telephone and video consultations are also bulk billed for existing local patients between 8:00am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday only. Out of area patients will incur a fee at all times.

Cancellation policy

We appreciate that there may be extenuating circumstances where a cancellation becomes necessary. As appointment availability is limited, we request that you cancel as soon as possible. Missed appointments may incur a fee of $35.

Booking appointments

If you would like an appointment with your preferred doctor, you will need to book in advance. For emergency or urgent issues, some appointments may be available on the day. Walk-in appointments will depend on the existing bookings and availability of a doctor.

Home visits and after-hours care

In an emergency or if the practice is closed and you need immediate care, please call 000 or present to the nearest hospital.

A home visit may be available after clinic hours, at the discretion of the doctor. Availability will be on a case-by-case basis and an out of pocket fee applies. To make an enquiry, call 03 5985 6662.

Practice communication policy

Although the receptionists are not medically trained, they all undergo Triage Training for Reception staff. You will be asked if your call is an emergency and may be advised to call the ambulance or attend the emergency department. If it is not an emergency, you will be given the earliest appointment available with the doctor of your choice where possible or any available doctor.

Results Follow Up

The doctor will advise you when the results are likely to become available. Please book a follow up appointment to discuss your test results. Results can be given via a telephone appointment or in person.

Repeat Prescriptions

If a repeat prescription is needed and you are unable to book an appointment in time, a one off short script can be issued for a fixed fee of $15. You are encouraged to make an appointment with your regular GP for any subsequent scripts. This provision does not apply to Schedule 8 or restricted medications unless its at the discretion of your regular GP. The fee for this service will be collected at the time of booking.

Management of patient health information

Our practice fully complies with the Health Records Act (Vic. 2001) and the Privacy Act (Commonwealth 1998).

Your medical record is a confidential document, and it is our policy to always maintain the security of personal health information. We will ensure that this information is only available to authorised persons involved in patient care.

If you wish to transfer your records, you will be asked to provide written consent for their transfer. This is to maintain privacy and confidentiality of your important medical information.

We adhere to doctor-patient confidentiality at all times. This means we will protect the information discussed in confidence between ourselves and a patient.

Feedback/complaints

We welcome comments and feedback and have our suggestions form available in our reception area. If you are unsatisfied with any aspect of the services provided to you, please email the practice manager on manager@ryefamilyclinic.com.au, or call the practice and reception will transfer you through.
